A precious award for the Victory |
Owner of the "Classic Jewelry House Lobortas" Igor Lobortas and CEO George Sheynker have presented FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov the Big Caissa Cup on 8th of September in Polat Hotel.
In 2009 the jewelers from the Jewels house “Lobortas” together with the Rusian chess player A. Kosteniuk have designed the chess Oscar, named after the goddess of chess Caissa. Thus the House took an active part in the wisest game development and popularization.

Chess Olympiad 2016 and World Cup 2015 awarded to Baku |
The FIDE Congress has awarded the 2016 World Chess Olympiad to the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku. The other two application by Albena (Bulgaria) and Tallin (Estonia) were not approved.
The FIDE World Cup 2015 is also awarded to the city of Baku. |

Karlovich: Dear ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome Boris Gelfand who is now well known after his match against Vishy Anand. What do you actually think about that struggle, Boris?
Gelfand: It was pretty tough and both fought well. Perhaps I was less lucky, but still there’s a lot to analyze and a lot to learn, I liked the match very much, it was good.

Karlovich: Ladies and gentlemen, would you please welcome this round winners, Ukrainian grandmasters, two times Olympiad champions Ruslan Ponomariov and Alexander Moiseenko. And my question is how was this match?
Ponomariov: It was not a tough one, my opponent didn’t show anything special, I overplayed him gradually.
Moiseenko: I had problems after the opening, my opponent made a few strong moves but finally in a time trouble I slipped away and made a draw.

FIDE General Assembly is being held from 7th to 9th September at the Istanbul Polat Renaissance Hotel. On the first day the Assembly approved the new FIDE Statutes with a vast voting majority. Andrew Paulson, the founder and director of AGON, presented his program for the next World Chess Championship cycle.
The agreement between FIDE and AGON was approved by the vast voting majority.
