KARLOVICH: Dear ladies and gentlemen, let me welcome our new guest: it is the first board and the captain of the Turkmenistan team Mesgen Amanov. Also today he has a birthday. We wish him health and success in chess and life. Our first question is how the Olympiad is going for you so far. How is your team playing?
AMANOV: Thank you for your wishes. Yes, I have a birthday today and I made myself a present by winning a game. I had two losses in a row, losing to Shirov and Topalov but today finally I managed to win.

The Dutch first board Anish Giri made a draw in his game of round 9 against Boris Gelfand of Israel and came for the press conference with his coach Vladimir Chuchelov.
KARLOVICH: Dear ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce our guests: the first board of the Dutch team Anish Giri, he is the acting Dutch Champion as well and the coach of the Dutch team Vladimir Chuchelov. Russia's big advantage in the Open section melted in one day as they went down against USA, allowing three other teams to catch up on the shared first place. Alex Onischuk and Sergey Karjakin made a relatively quick draw and then Dmitry Jakovenko outplayed the young Ray Robson.
But USA prevailed on the top two boards as Hikaru Nakamura and Gata Kamsky defeated Russian stars Vladimir Kramnik and Alexander Grischuk.

Karlovich: Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you a famous chess couple - Josip Asik, the chief editor of the Chess Informant and one of the strongest Serbian women players Alisa Maric. My first question to Alisa, you have recently become a minister of sport of your country, what do you think of it?
Maric: Yes, indeed, after 6 days of my work I was already sent to London as a representative of Serbia and we have managed to win one golden medal so far, it is a good result though.

President: We are having pretty tough time – lost a lot, but managed to defeat Virginian Islands so it is a good chance for us to show that we can fight for victory.
