La ceremonia de clausura de la 40a Olimpiada de Ajedrez que se celebró en Estambul, tuvo lugar el 9 de septiembre en el salón del Hotel WOW, el lugar que se convirtió en una casa cálida y agradable para muchos participantes.

Karlovich: Dear ladies and gentlemen, I am extremely happy to congratulate the Russian women team as these ladies won gold medals here, in Istanbul. They have proved that they are the strongest in the world. My first question is, whether you really hoped to make it, guys?

Rublevsky: We did. However to make this true we prepared a special opening variation, tried hard and simply played well to get the result.

FONTAINE: Dear ladies and gentlemen, I’m glad to invite you to our press-conference with the members of Ukrainian Women team: Kateryna Lahno, Yanovska Inna and Zhukova Nataliya. First of all we congratulate the team with the third place in the Olympiad. What are your impressions after the today match?

LAHNO: Well, of course we are very happy, because at the start before the start of the tournament we were the 4th-rated team. We already know that we came third, but we still have the tiny chance to get the second place (because the round is not over yet), but I wouldn’t even dream of it, because the current result is very decent.

En la última ronda de la 40 ª Olimpiada Mundial de Ajedrez Armenia fue emparejada contra Hungría. Levon Aronian consiguió una perpetua contra Peter Leko, y continuaron las otras partidas.
Después del control de tiempo Gabriel Sargissian empato la final de torres contra Ferenc Berkes y Sergei Movsesian se anotó una victoria decisiva contra Zoltan Almasi. Finalmente Vladimir Akopian llevo a Judit Polgar a un empate para marcar el inicio de la gran celebración por la medalla de oro de Armenia. ¡Felicitaciones!
Rusia empleó su estrategia característica y firmó dos tablas rápidas con Alemania - ambos con piezas negras. Esto funcionó perfectamente ya que Vladimir Kramnik y Sergey Karjakin ganaron con blanco para asegurar la victoria por 3-1 totales para Rusia. Rusia terminó empatado en el primer puesto por puntos de match pero con desempates más débiles y por lo tanto es galardonado con la medalla de plata.

Garett: Bueno, la ACP tiene como objetivo colaborar con la FIDE y su tarea principal es ayudar a los profesionales del ajedrez. Estamos siempre abiertos a la discusión y nuestro objetivo es estar en contacto con todas las partes. Es importante asegurarse un diálogo abierto.
